Mr. Gainous was born and raised here in Cairo. He attended school at Southside, Washington and graduated from Cairo high School in 1982. He briefly attended Valdosta State College. In December of 1983, Mr. Gainous enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he worked as an aircraft electronics technician. After leaving the Marine Corps, Mr. Gainous continued his career in Engineering, Drafting and Design, a trade that he learned while attending CHS. For 23 years Mr. Gainous worked in the engineering industry with several companies in southwest Georgia and northwest Florida.

In July 2003, Mr. Gainous began his career in education as an instructor of Construction Technology. In 2010, Mr. Gainous began to teach Drafting and Design along with the Construction curriculum. While teaching, Mr. Gainous continued his education and completed his Bachelor's Degree in Adult and Career Education at Valdosta State University in 2005. He continued his education and VSU and received his Master of Education in Adult and Career Education in 2007. Most recently, Mr. Gainous has earned his Education Specialist in Teacher Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2012.

After teaching for ten years, Mr. Gainous has been promoted into an administrative role as the College and Career Academy CEO and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Director. Mr. Gainous is excited to serve in this capacity and looks forward to improving the course offerings and course presentation at Cairo High School as we continue to implement plans as a Charter College and Career Academy.
